CalcTower's calculators are built to be accurate and are tested against their documented formulas. This page explains what they can and cannot tell you.
Results are estimates, not advice
Every result on CalcTower is an informational estimate produced from the values you enter. A calculator does not know your full circumstances, and its output should not be treated as professional advice or as a decision on its own.
What a result depends on
A result is only as good as the inputs and the assumptions behind it. In particular:
- Your inputs — an incorrect or misunderstood input produces a confidently wrong answer.
- The formula and conventions the calculator uses, which are documented on each calculator page.
- Assumptions the calculator has to make, such as a standard number of working weeks, a typical paint coverage rate, or a default sizing chart.
- Rounding, which can cause small differences from another tool or from an official figure.
- Rules that vary by country, institution, lender, brand, or provider, which a general-purpose calculator cannot fully model.
Where a calculator makes a significant assumption, we try to state it directly on that calculator’s page in its formula, notes, or common-mistakes section.
Where professional advice matters
Some calculations touch decisions where a mistake is costly. CalcTower does not replace a qualified professional, and you should not rely on it alone for:
- Financial decisions — loans, mortgages, debt payoff, savings, and investment returns. Figures from a lender, bank, or licensed adviser take precedence over an estimate here.
- Tax matters — sales tax, markup, and profit figures here are general and do not account for your tax jurisdiction or situation.
- Business and pricing decisions — rate, margin, break-even, and ROI results are planning aids, not accounting or valuation advice.
- Academic decisions — grade and GPA results depend on your institution's own grading scheme, which may differ from the standard scales used here.
- Construction and materials purchasing — paint, flooring, and tile estimates should be checked against supplier guidance and your actual measurements before you buy.
CalcTower does not provide financial, tax, legal, accounting, medical, or engineering advice.
Sizing and shade tools
Clothing, shoe, ring, and bra sizing varies between brands, garment cuts, and manufacturers, and foundation shades vary between cosmetic formulas. Results from these tools are a starting point for comparison. Check the brand’s own size chart, or test a shade sample, before purchasing.
External links
Where CalcTower references an outside standard, brand size chart, or other third-party resource, we do not control that resource and are not responsible for its content or accuracy. A reference is not an endorsement.
Changes to the calculators
Calculators, their assumptions, and their documented formulas may change as we correct errors or improve a tool. A result you obtained previously may therefore differ from the result the same inputs produce later. If a figure matters, record the result and the inputs you used at the time rather than relying on the page to reproduce it indefinitely.
Accuracy and reporting problems
We test our calculation engines and correct errors when we find them, but we cannot guarantee that every result is free of error or appropriate for every situation. If you believe a calculator is producing an incorrect result, please tell us via the Contact page — reports like that are genuinely useful.
Your use of CalcTower is also subject to our Terms of Service.
